Provider enablement company Vytalize Health has added an insurance industry heavy hitter to its board.
David Wichmann, who served as CEO of healthcare giant UnitedHealth Group from 2017 to 2021, will join the panel of directors alongside Amy Compton-Phillips, M.D., the chief medical officer at Press Ganey and former Providence Health executive.
In a 23-year tenure at UnitedHealth, Wichmann was a pivotal player in the company's massive growth in the industry. UnitedHealth Group is now a Fortune 500 firm with a raft of business segments from health insurance to pharmacy benefit management to provider services.
After leaving UnitedHealth Group, Wichmann co-founded Jory Capital in 2022, and the private equity firm focuses on investments in companies "developing the next generation of health and human performance," according to the announcement.

In the release, Wichmann said healthcare is at "a crucial inflection point" in transforming how care is delivered. And that's why he's "proud to partner" with Vytalize, he said.
"Propelling these changes are physicians and the organizing principles and distinctive capabilities of progressive value-based healthcare companies," Wichmann said. "They are advancing effective use of high-performing primary care, under aligned incentives, cutting-edge technology and information-enabled services, and proven consumer engagement methods."
"This convergence is beginning to improve access, experiences, outcomes and costs," he added.
Compton-Phillips, meanwhile, served previously as the president of clinical operations at Providence Health and spent 22 years at health system giant Kaiser Permanente.
"Vytalize Health's platform will enable the shift to whole-person, preventative care to achieve better outcomes," she said. "I look forward to working with the team to move value-based care forward."
