The state of digital health policy in CEE
The state of digital health policy in CEE unknown
CEE law firm Kinstellar has released its latest update on the state of digital health in Central and Eastern Europe. The April 2023 version of ‘Current e-Health trends in CEE and Turkey’ focuses primarily on the state of policy and regulation on digital health across nine countries in the region.
The report states that the healthcare industry in the region is “currently undergoing a major digital transformation, with eHealth – including telemedicine – at the forefront of this change” with private operators and eHealth start-ups driving current growth in the health care sectors of these countries.
Interestingly, multiple countries in the region – Bulgaria, Servia, Slovakia and Ukraine – haven’t yet developed explicit regulatory frameworks for the sector. But this hasn’t stopped the use of telehealth and other forms of digital health proliferating in these countries, nor government initiatives to introduce telehealth. The Ukrainian government has been pushing adoption especially strongly, particularly since the beginning of the Russian invasion last year.
