Beginning in 2024, more than 20 million commercial members will be able to correspond with Bright.md providers through MDLive.
The Cigna Group's Evernorth Health Services is purchasing telehealth platform Bright.md for an undisclosed amount to enhance its existing virtual services through MDLive.
Bright.md was founded in 2014 and offers asynchronous, triage, and care navigation telehealth services, according to an Oct. 10 news release shared with Becker's. Alongside the acquisition, MDLive will grow its virtual primary care services to include health coaching for patients with chronic conditions.
MDLive, which was purchased by Cigna in 2021, will also begin to offer asynchronous care to clients and patients in 2024 and expand support for chronic disease management and wellness visits. Participating individuals will take part in a digital clinical interview that is converted into a chart note. A clinician will then review and provide a diagnosis, care plan, prescriptions or refer the patient to a more appropriate provider.
