Becker's reported on six hospitals and health systems that opened or announced plans to establish new centers focused on healthcare innovation in 2022.
- New Brunswick, N.J.-based Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School have opened a Center for Innovation that will focus initially on digital health and cardiovascular disease.
- Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and Penn Medicine have jointly launched a kidney innovation center aimed at advancing research for early detection, prevention and treatment of kidney disease. The center, dubbed Penn-CHOP Kidney Innovation Center, will focus on developing discoveries through collaboration, recruiting and growing talent, and training and mentorship programs for nephrology researchers.
- Houston Methodist is partnering with Houston technology innovation space the Ion to build a space for medical technology innovation. The 1,200-square-foot space in the Ion, called the Tech Hub, will be used for networking and pitches focusing on innovation in health technology.
- Nashville, Tenn.-based Vanderbilt University Medical Center received a $10 million gift from the Brock family, including John F. Brock III, his wife, Mary, and their three children, to establish a new innovation center.
- Charlotte, N.C.-based Novant Health opened an innovation lab to create tools and programs that improve care quality and access.
- Pittsburgh-based Allegheny Health Network transformed its Bellevue, Pa., hospital campus into a new biotechnology, biomedical and pharmaceutical innovation hub.
